Green before deep red…

The flowering spring season has ended for this Wild Black Cherry (Prunus serotina) native tree. Now the fruit is ripening. Though still green, unripened, it will age into a deep red, almost black, berry. They are slightly tart so used more often in jams and jellies. Copyright 2026 Pamela Breitberg
