Today the feeder never stopped being used. Cracked corn left over from the chicks and ducklings last month …last two months…at school were added to the mix. This brought the woodpeckers to the feeder. Really strange to watch it at a feeder. But it’s been back daily….and routinely all day today. Along with it is a blue jay, cardinals, doves, nuthatches and neighboring sparrow and grackles and finches. One orange tanager showed up too this week; about two weeks behind the group that migrated through earlier this spring. An army of mosquitos are habitating our yard today too after a week of MUCH rain and now cool weather. So a good day to observe from the comfort of the couch! But fun still. I did sneak out to do two rounds of weeding, deadheading and minor perennial thinnning.
