About the time I think I’ve seen everything of nature’s creative designs I spotted these trees. What looks like a super tangled mess of multiple plantlife belongs to only one plant, the Cannonball Tree (Couroupita guianensis). CLICK the image above for more information. Copyright 2019 Pamela BreitbergOne Cannonball tree can host up to 1000 flowers a day, each hanging from it’s own vine-like racemes. Yes, 1000 blooms per day! See a “cannonball” in this image? Copyright 2019 Pamela BreitbergThe flower is as unusual in design as the rest of this tree. Copyright 2019 Pamela BreitbergDue to the design of the Cannonball tree with it’s lengthy racemes, the fruit, cannonballs, hang towards the bottom of this tall (up to 110 feet) tree. This tree needs support because of it’s immense down-hanging “weights”. These trees were at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens.
