While the beach has been closed in Lauderdale by the Sea for over two months to people, three types of Sea Turtles have visited and laid their nests. Every morning researchers check and fence off any new nests. Life continues. This morning the beach opened again for exercise only. From other signs on other fenced areas, I’m thinking it was due May 16th or 17th. Interesting fact: three days after Sea Turtle babies hatch the researchers unearth the nest and count how many eggs hatched and also rescue any strays that haven’t made it out of the nest.
