Grapes are ripening…

See the Sea Grapes (Coccoloba uvifera) ripening on the tree. My research says the fruits ripen in late summer, but clearly this process has begun early this year in southern Florida. The grapes are edible raw or made into jelly or jam or even wine. I have not partaken in any of these recipes. Copyright 2021 Pamela Breitberg
Directly above my head was this canopy of Sea Grapes beginning their ripening process. Sea Grapes are used on sand dune areas along the beach to control erosion and the trees help block city lights during turtle (egg laying) season. This tree was decorative next to a grocery store.
