Concrete vs. dirt…

Michigan Avenue walking towards the Pumping Station (the old Water Tower is to the left acrosss the street). This morning it was drizzling and quite foggy. Based on one of my photographs; as I always do; this piece was a fun challenge for me. 8×10 acrylic on canvas. Copyright 2022 Pamela Breitberg
A walk through a hardwood forest, a small but refreshing place to get-a-way from daily hustle and bustle. This scene could be anywhere in the country or even the world. It, in fact, is outside the subtroopical Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Acrylic on canvas. Copyright 2022 Pamela Breitberg

Both images are acrylic paintings, my medium of choice. And both pieces are from my photographs. My attempt is to use the photographs as a base but allow myself to use artistic license to alter details as seems appropriate. I feel like each new canvas and fresh paints is like a new puzzle to challenge my brain. Fun! And always learning. My first choice of inspiration would be live, plein aire painting; but right now my photographs are a good inspiration. Critiques are always welcome!

Concrete and dirt are two equal loves of mine. The engergies of concrete in the city are so lively and allow great people watching. Being next to the soil and nature are soul renewing. Both are needed in this life.
