Springtime bracts…

Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) is always a treasure for me to spot in early spring. It’s one of the first flowering trees in woodland areas where winter’s dormancy has opened the skies for sunlight to fill the woodland environment. This little 8’x10′ acrylic shows the blossoms life size. Dogwood “flowers” are actually bracts; the flowers are the tiny, dense clusters in the center. Read more here.Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
