Purple dragon, one of the living dead…

Purple Dragon’s more common name is Spotted Dead-Nettle (Lamium maculatum). I prefer Purple Dragon for this tiny flowering groundcover. I believe this is the first time I’ve even photographed this plant, usually chose to ignore the groundcover for more showy flowers in its bed. Purple Dragon refers to its flowers’ likeness to Snapdragon flowers. Dead Nettle refers to it’s lack of stinging hairs found on other Nettles; hence it is dead. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
