Artists, either before or after they create, must choose a name for their artwork. Terrence Karpowicz, the sculptor of this piece, it seems. had a change of mind over time with naming this magnificent piece. On his website, it seemed to be named “On Top of the World“. That title confused me. However, after it was placed outside of Advocate Hospital in Chicago, it was officially titled “Still Standing“. Perhaps reflecting all that the patients and the world have survived; we are still standing. Read about this amazing sculptor here.
