Hiding but not hidden…

I came upon this juvenile Green Heron while walking along the side of a slough (swampy, shallow lake). It did blend in well with the dark, plant-filled, shallow water.  Young Green Herons tend to hunt at the edge of the water instead of wading in the water. The fluffy, spotted, and mottled feather patterns are typical of many young birds. 8″x10″ acrylic. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
