Knees like no others…

The Everglades and surrounding wetlands are home to native Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) trees. Mysteriously, they produce many “knees” along their sides, leading scientists to still ponder their purpose. It continues to be debated whether they help with oxygen production or as extra supports for such large trees with water soaked roots. Copyright 2024 Pamela Breitberg
