See the whiteish flowers hanging down from inside the salmon colored bracts? Once again, the bracts are the star of another flowering plant. Shrimp Plant (Justicia brandegeeana)’s bracts are rare in that they continue to grow in length until the end of the bloom cycle when they fall off the plant. I count my time in southern Florida as my seafood season; dining on many locally sourced fish. But Shrimp Plant is a favorite to observe.
