Chicago showed signs of springtime arrival yesterday. Today, it’s a blustery 35degrees. But hope shows through the flowers that rise from the winter, browned, debris. Here a Wood Squill (Scilla siberica) shows it’s brilliant blue/violet colors. The bulbs spread easily, allowing for this overal, colorful, beautiful, scene. Squill means simply “small lily”. Copyright 2025 Pamela Breitberg
