Soft, layers of lush pink caught my attention. Japanese Rose (Rosa rugosa), aka Beach Rose, Ramanas Rose seemed quite happy in the big urban city of Chicago. Japanese Rose has been naturalized in the U.S. for quite awhile. Note the wrinkled, corrugated leaves; “Rugosa” means wrinkled. Read about this beauty here.
