I first noticed the array of fallen flowers on the lawn underneath this huge Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) tree in Chicago’s Lincoln Park. This “tough and adaptable” (see https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plantinfo/tree_alternatives/northern_catalpa ) tree can grow up to 70 feet tall. Beautiful! I had this tree in my backyard, as well. Then we moved. I never knew the real name of this tree, but I have painted the white blossoms. Wonderful pictures!
It makes a beautiful shade tree. When I was a teacher I had one planted by the playground; now to wait for it to mature into a real shade tree. Thank you for your comment.
