Lake Michigan’s erosion control efforts often includes the placement of many large boulders along the shoreline. These hostile looking environs occasionally accumulate enough organic materials to be a perfect host to a “volunteer” plant. Chicory, AKA Blue Cornflower is an assertive non-native plant that has also found a home among the boulders in Lincoln Park. Survival is a determined trait of nature; thankfully so due to often too much human interferences. Copyright 2019 Pamela Breitberg
