Garden inside a park…

Inside the vastness of Lincoln Park in Chicago is a small garden, often overlooked because of larger, more popular destinations. The Shakespeare Garden (I showed his statue a week or so ago) is lush and a great retreat. Coopyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
Traditional and timeless both describe the plantings and design of the Shakespeare Gardens. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
Daylilies abound in larger groups. Somehow the orange flowers seem more restful on the eyes than the many bright yellow sun-type of flowers that bloom all summer. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
This vertical compostion of the Daylilies shows the depth of the garden plantings. My long lens easily makes the front Lily crisply in focus and softens the other blooms so as to not distract from the main star. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
Of course, a summer garden needs some yellow sunloving flowers. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
Soft pink helps calm the energy and provide a restful retreat. Pink/purple is the complimentary color of yellow; which naturally adds interest and balance to the design. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
In contrast to the Shakespeare Garden design and color choices, this doorway planting at a nearby condo feels a bit intimidating and formal. Each setting is elegant and carefully designed. Yet each evokes a different “feeling”. Copyright 2023 Pamela Breitberg
