Long droopy, trumpet-like flowers are a clue that this plant is part of the Tobacco family. This one, Jasmine Tobacco (Nicotiana alata) has a sweet aroma and makes for an eye-catching element in the home garden. The leaves reveal it is part of the Nightshade family.A plant whose seedpods seem to hang in the air is the Money Plant (Lunaria annua). Perhaps a more interesting name for this plant is Annual Honesty, so named for its transparent seedpods. As a child I was infatuated by Money Plants. So it was fun to see this plant included in this neighborhood garden. I’ll skip sharing all my thoughts of how this plant could be used in political campaigns. But one plant with common names of Money and Honest just is hard to resist such thoughts. Copyright 2025 Pamela BreitbergHanging against a brick wall was this pot of dangling plants.
