Late summer brilliance…

Crossing the raised boardwalk around Lincoln Park, Chicago’s South Pond provided me an aerial view of the surrounding prairie lands. Here Sawtooth Sunflower (Helianthus grossesserratus) displays various stages of growth, each worth stopping to observe. Flowers bloom in clusters on top of the tall stems.
