How old is this one…

This subtropical native is easy to spot in the Everglades and gardens of southeast Florida. This is a Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens). The leaf distinguishes it from other palms but the small height solidifies any question of what species it might be. It rained last night and this morning’s humdity kept the leaves wet during our morning walk. A Saw Palmetto can live between 500-700 years; respect is due!
