An Aussie fox…

These palm leaves resemble foxes tails, hence it’s name: Foxtail Palm (Wodyetia bifurcata). Native to Queensland, Australia, I spotted this one on a walk through Lauderdale by the Sea neighborhoods. Copyright 2020 Pamela Breitberg
Australians compare the Foxtail Palm’s fruit to the size of a duck egg or orange fruit. In the U.S. it’s considered the size of a plum tomato. Each is accurate in description. I first noted some random fallen fruit while on my walk, which caused me to pause and look up (see previous image. It is the only one of its kind I’ve ever seen. Read more about Foxtail Palm here.
